Day 101

9th Feb 2016
Day 101

Monday 8th February was our 101st day at school this year. The children participated in many activities and tasks relating to the number 101.P1-3 talked about the difference between spending  £1.01 and £101. We also talked about how items costing £1.01 would be paid for using coins while items costing £101 might be paid for using a bank card. P2 and P3 pupils wrote out the numbers 1 to 101 in a number grid while P1 children made the number using playdough. Some children made 101 using pegs or Cuisenaire rods. P4-7 were set the challenge of working out what coins Mrs Crabbe had in her purse. She had £1.01. Can you work it out? HINT- She has 12 coins in total. In the afternoon Mrs Crabbe hosted Room 101 - Kirkinriola style . The pupils were given the opportunity to suggest an area of Maths/ Numeracy they would like to put in Room 101. After much discussion it was concluded that Oliver was right and that no area of Maths should really be put into Room 101 as they were all too important. Ellie argued very convincingly that textbooks should be put in Room 101. Thank you and well done to all who took part.
